The Banatul Timișoara Philharmonic celebrates composer György Kurtág on the occasion of his 100th birthday with an exceptional chamber recital. Internationally acclaimed artists Vlad Popescu (violin), Sascha Bota (viola), and Julian Arp (cello) present a special concert held on the composer’s birthday, opening the program with a work by Kurtág himself.
The event takes place on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM, at the UPT Senate Hall, Lloyd Palace.
The recital program brings together works by György Kurtág, Johann Sebastian Bach, Béla Bartók, György Ligeti, Leó Weiner, and Franz Schubert. Opening the evening with a composition by Kurtág emphasizes the tribute to the composer, while the rest of the program places his music in dialogue with the tradition from which it emerged and the modernity he helped define.
This event offers the audience the opportunity to discover or rediscover the music of one of the most essential composers of our time, in an intimate and elegant setting and through performances of the highest artistic level.
