SUMMARY:THE ART OF CONTRAST | Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra\, Timișoara | Conductor: Andreas Ottensamer | Soloist: Tomaž Močilnik – clarinet
DESCRIPTION:The evening’s program offers a meeting of two distinct sound worlds\, brought together under the direction of conductor Andreas Ottensamer. The Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra presents two works that highlight both classical clarity and expressive modernity in the symphonic repertoire. \nMozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major\, KV 622\, one of his final creations\, provides soloist Tomaž Močilnik the perfect framework to showcase the elegance of the instrument. \nIn the second half\, Béla Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra emphasizes the ensemble’s timbral diversity. Its varied structure and the alternation between lyrical and rhythmic moments make this work a landmark of the 20th century and a chance to appreciate the orchestra’s versatility.

SUMMARY:Musica Ricercata – DiVerdi | Extraordinary Closing Concert | Orchestra Musica Ricercata and the Choir of Filarmonica Banatul | Conductor: Gabriel Bebeșelea\, Soloist: Michael Spyres – Baritenor
DESCRIPTION:As part of the conference “Verdi – The Science of Vocal Art”\, interspersed with demonstrative artistic moments\, we explore what tuning pitch means and why composers such as Verdi were concerned with the tuning of the orchestra. From 19:00\, we discover the difference between the frequency of 432 Hz — often associated with the so-called “Verdi pitch” — and the current standard of 440 Hz\, as well as the historical efforts through which Verdi advocated for the establishment of a lower tuning standard\, in order to protect the voices of soloists and ensure the sonic balance of ensembles. \nFollowing this introduction — in which concepts such as note\, frequency\, tuning\, and sound vibration are explained and demonstrated — we invite you\, from 20:00\, to the extraordinary concert “DiVERDI”\, featuring selections from the operas of the great Italian composer. The soloist will be American baritenor Michael Spyres\, making his debut in Romania. \nPerformed by the Musica Ricercata Orchestra and the Choir of the Banatul Philharmonic Timișoara.Conductor: Gabriel BebeșeleaAssistant conductor: Radu Zaharia \nThe events are part of the Musica Ricercata | DiVERDI Project.\n______ \nEvent co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund (AFCN).\nThe project does not necessarily represent the position of the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. SUMMARY:HEROIC TALES | Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra\, Timișoara | Conductor: Gabriel Bebeșelea | Soloist: Leticia Moreno – violin
DESCRIPTION:Conductor: Gabriel Bebeșelea \nSoloist: Leticia Moreno – violin \nThe program offers a journey through three works that highlight heroic characters\, atmospheres\, and moments. The evening begins with R. Strauss’s Don Juan\, inspired by the figure of the famous adventurer. The music directly conveys the energy and drive of this character\, making it one of the most well-known symphonic pages dedicated to a legendary hero. \nNext\, K. Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 is presented by violinist Leticia Moreno. The work has a broad and tense character\, suggesting a powerful inner evolution—almost like a heroic confrontation between the instrument and the orchestra. \nThe concert concludes with R. Strauss’s suite Der Rosenkavalier\, inspired by the chivalric universe of the opera of the same name. The music conveys an elegant and theatrical atmosphere\, evoking a time of grand gestures and remarkable characters.
