2024 is not only 35 years since the Revolution started in Timișoara on December 16, 1989, but also 235 years since the beginning of the French Revolution, one of the main turning points in history. This event that shook the entire continent did not only change the social paradigm, through the emergence of Human Rights, but, in a broader sense, radically modified the entire thinking and creation. This is precisely why this year’s edition of the Musica Ricercata Festival, as a continuation of the previous edition in which the Enlightenment was in the foreground, is aimed at all kinds of revolutions, from social and political ones to artistic ones (visual or sound ). ), or of great discoveries (scientific or territorial).

Some of the most important names of early music will be present in Timișoara, supporting recitals and concerts that bring before the public the various forms of revolutions: Jordi Savall with Hesperion XXI and Tembembe Ensamble between a program with music from the Spanish baroque and south- American, Carlo Vistoli together with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin with a concert in which the music of Bach and Handel will be contrasted with the music of Vivaldi, Arnaud Marzorati and Les Lunaisiens in a program of works from the time of the French Revolution, Juan Pérez Floristán will perform at fortepiano compositions by Beethoven and Dussek inspired by the French Revolution.

Also in 2024, it will be 270 years since the consecration of the Roman Catholic Cathedral, on which occasion Musica Ricercata will perform Michael Haydn’s Trinity Mass, a work which, according to several sources, was performed in 1754 in Timișoara.
