IONUȚ PODGOREANU

Born in Ploiești, IONUȚ PODGOREANU began studying the horn with Liviu Săvuța at the Music High School in Ploiești. He continued his musical training at the University of Music in Salzburg, where he studied with Hansjörg Angerer, until completing his studies (Master of Arts).

During his studies he was a member of the famous “Gustav Mahler” Youth Orchestra, and collaborated with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Ivan Fischer and others. He was also the winner of important international horn competitions, such as “Jeunesse Musicales” (Romania), “Telfs” (Austria), “Yamaha” (Austria) and “D. Ceccarossi” (Italy).

Since 2006 he has been principal horn player of the Barcelona Opera (“Gran Teatre del Liceu”), and since 2014 he has been a horn teacher at the Superior Conservatory in Barcelona.

He collaborated with orchestras such as: Berliner Philharmoniker, Münchner Philharmoniker, La Scala in Milan, National Orchestra of France, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, Cristian Măcelaru, etc.

Since 2016, he has been a collaborator of the „MusicAeterna” Orchestra, conducted by Teodor Currentzis.
He is a founding member of the “Mioritique” Ensemble (Barcelona), principal conductor of the “Simfonics” Orchestral Academy (Barcelona) and a member of the “Romanian Chamber Orchestra”.
