Under the direction of Leo Hussain, the symphonic concert Awakening opens with Arnold Bax’s symphonic poem Tintagel, a work with a strong evocative dimension, inspired by the dramatic landscapes of the British coastline.
At the center of the program is Johannes Brahms’ Violin and Cello Concerto in A minor, op. 102, performed by Alexandra Conunova and Valentin Răduțiu, resident artists of the Banatul Philharmonic for the 2025/2026 season. The dialogue between the two soloists highlights the balance between lyricism and energy, in a work of profound emotional depth.
The evening concludes with Richard Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra, op. 30, a large-scale symphonic poem remarkable for the monumentality of its discourse and the richness of its orchestral colors, giving the orchestra the opportunity to display its full expressive palette.
