Florin Iliescu

FLORIN ILIESCU was born in Bucharest, in 1984, into a family of musicians and started studying the violin at the age of five. Violinists such as Christiane Edinger, Zakhar Bron, Leonidas Kavakos and Ștefan Gheorghiu influenced him during his artistic training.

During his studies at the University of Music in Lübeck (Germany), Florin Iliescu had his first stage presence as concertmaster of the Lübeck Philharmonic, at the age of 19. He gained orchestral experience through collaborations with NDR Hamburg, RSO Berlin, the Frankfurt Opera and the “Beethoven” Orchestra in Bonn.

Since 2018, Florin Iliescu is the first concertmaster of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 2019, he performed as a duo at the Alte Oper Frankfurt with the internationally renowned violinist Gil Shaham.

Florin Iliescu frequently performs as a soloist, in 2022 making his solo debut with the Südwestfalen Philharmonic. In the 2023-2024 season, he was Artist in Residence of the Timișoara Banat Philharmonic. He often gives solo recitals in Germany, Italy, France, South Korea and collaborates with renowned orchestras around the world.

Florin Iliescu plays a violin built by Gioffredo Cappa (1716).
