Slovenian bassoonist Luka Mitev studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Prof. Marco Postinghel and at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin with Prof. Volker Tessmann. From 2021 to 2023, he was a scholarship holder of the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker, studying with Stefan Schweigert.
He is a prizewinner of numerous competitions, including First Prize at the renowned “Concertino Praga,” and was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra as well as the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. As a soloist, he has performed with the Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Since the 2023/24 season, he has been principal bassoonist of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. He also appears regularly as a guest with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
Luka Mitev is also a passionate chamber musician, a core member of Ensemble SI, and performs regularly with chamber music ensembles such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Ensemble Resonanz.
